I have yet to meet a cigarette that can be used safely, but maybe one day the tobacco companies will come up with one, although I'm sure if they could have they would have by now.  It sure would be good for business.  Sadly, the best solution for not getting ill from cigarettes is not to smoke or not to be around second hand smoke.  Although the wireless infrastructure has been set up over the past 2 decades to where it is almost impossible now to not be around second hand radiation, it is not impossible to limit your primary or first hand exposure to the radiation, by simply not putting your cell phone against your head, not putting your wifi laptop on your lap, not walking around with your Blackberry attached to your hip and turned on, not putting your cell phone anywhere on your body and trying not to even be near them when others are using them, although this of course can be a huge problem in itself.  At the moment, the problem is so hidden because, again, surprise surprise...there is so much money at stake.  The way the environment now is due to the wireless infrastructure of THE WHOLE WORLD, it is not so easy to escape the radiation.  The best thing you could possibly do for you and your loved ones would be to make an immediate investment in a land line if you don't already have one, and use it exclusively, except if you have an emergency and HAVE to use your cell phone.  And when we say land line, we don't mean portable, cordless phone.  Those can cause acoustic neuroma, a tumor of the auditory nerve, sometimes also referred to as a benign brain tumor.  No, we mean the kind of old fashioned land line where you sometimes trip over the cord. This down side is much less painful, expensive and life threatening than surgery for a brain tumor or any other illness.  Also, cord tripping has not been known to cause very many deaths.

Although there are little gadgets you can put on your cell phone, I trust none of it and would not want be the guinea pig who believed them only to see it failed in the long run.

As far as the wireless infrastructure, the original idea was to have the wireless phone signal go right into the fiber optic network in your own home or office as opposed to the airwaves while it was looking for the nearest base station or antenna.  If we could convince President Obama that that was the better way to at least cut down on the background radiation, then that would be a good thing.  Until such time, we are all being radiated, and there is no easy way to put this...at unhealthful and harmful levels.  And by the way, no level at all is really the ideal, although that seems a bit impossible at the moment.

Getting active in your own community with your own legislators is something we highly recommend.  Whenever there's a petition out, sign it or you can even start your own and we'll sign it!  It is going to take a real groundswell to actually really do something about this problem.  The wireless industry has inundated the whole world and is continually fighting back with skewed study after skewed study to anyone who dare says there are serious health effects involved with their products.

Wifi in the classroom has been sold as a learning advantage, especially for underprivileged kids.  it is in reality extremely harmful and anything you can do to get it out of your kids school would be most appropriate.  Please click on our page entitled WIFI and Schools  dedicated to this subject on the left hand navigation side of this page.

If you would like to be involved with the solution, please sign our petitions, contact your Congressional representatives or statewide legislators or local school boards.  The website is brand new so please bear with us for a little bit until it is all set up.  Also, get active within your own community.  Start demanding wifi be replaced with wired infrastructure at your kids schools.  Take all the precautions you can when using a cell phone, spread the word about the dangers of these products, and maybe, just maybe, if there is enough ground swell, we can force the powers that be to start valuing human, animal and environmental life over profits and begin to disable the air transmitted signal system and replace it with a fiber optic transmitted signal system, force all cell phones to be sold with "air tube" headsets ( a good way to keep the signal away from your head) create stricter regulations in regards to children and reduce the entire amount of EMR we are legally exposed to on our cell phones by regulating the amount be MUCH, MUCH lower than what we currently have (as opposed to raising the amount which is currently being discussed).  Like a thousand times lower.

It is really going to take a lot of people, effort and stick-to-it-ness to actually make change in this area.  Knowledge is power and action speaks for itself.  One is no good without the other.  So the more you know and the more people who know this, the better.  If our numbers are strong, our voices will be that much louder and when we do take action, it will have more impact than as just individuals.  Please sign the petition for legislation and pass it on.  A little signature goes a long ways.  And also, it never hurts to get super pro-active!...

The following is video of hearings on the bill, The Children's Wireless Protection Act.  The bill was finally picked up and adapted for the state of Maine by Representative Andrea Boland.  There are currently commitments from legislators in CA to pick the bill up this year in 2010 as well as in Washington DC, where a group, The American Association for Cell Phone Safety was just lobbying for the bill.  When you click on the below link, all of the testimonies will come up.  Not every single testimony has been uploaded, especially from some of the Mainers, but we are working on it!!!

THIS JUST IN  1/20/09...

The Brussels shock wave

The suit of the phone companies and the federal government has been dismissed and the Brussels standards validated; a definite step forward in protecting health from radiation.

Three volts per metre: that's now the only valid standard for exposure to electromagnetic microwaves in force. In its decision published this Thursday the Constitutional Court confirmed this statutory limit, due to come into force in the Brussels Region on 15th March next.

The outcome was by no means a foregone conclusion for the Brussels government. In their appeal to have the motion brought by the MP Dominique Braeckman (Ecologist) quashed, the phone companies Belgacom, Mobistar and Base, as well as the federal government, considered that only the federal authority had the power to legislate on standards aimed ultimately at protecting human health.

The Constitutional Court swept aside these arguments and judged a contrario that "the Regions have the authority to prevent and to combat different types of environmental pollution, and that this authority confers the right to take measures to prevent and to limit risks (…), including limiting people's exposure to the risks from these types of radiation."

The Court goes even further and judges that on the basis of its redefined competence, "the federal authority no longer has the power to set statutory exposure levels. (…) The choice made by the regional legislature (…) to apply the principle of precaution falls within the right of this legislative body to make its own assessment and cannot be rejected simply because there are no stricter international standards in force."

And what about freedom for business and industry? "This cannot be held to be total freedom," the Court declared. "The plaintiffs have not demonstrated that it is technically or financially impossible to meet the standards set out in the motion."

Needless to say the Brussels Environment Minister Evelyne Huytebroeck (Ecologist) is delighted: "The Region has just won a fundamental battle to preserve the quality of life of the population in spite of the appeals by the federal minister at the time (Ed: Rudy Demotte, Socialist, now the Walloon minister-president) and by the phone companies," she said. "In the absence of a scientific consensus, the principle of precaution dictates that we should take measures to avoid the risk of irreversible damage to the environment and to health."

The office of the federal Minister of Health Laurette Onkelinx (Socialist) prefers to remain silent on the subject. At the end of 2008 Laurette Onkelinx had made it known that she would follow the recommendation of the Higher Council of Health, which has always favoured the 3 V/m limit, even while the federal standard remained 20.6 V/m.

By coincidence, the Committee for Federal-Regional Concertation is due to consider the question this coming Friday. In view of the content of the Court's decision, it's unlikely that the reluctance of the Minister of the Economy Vincent van Quickenborne (Walloon Liberal Democrats) with regard to the 3 V/m level will have much influence.

In the Walloon region the Minister for Regional Development, André Antoine (Humanist Democratic Centre), sent out a circular to the local authorities at the beginning of the week, which also imposes the 3 V/m: "The decision of the Constitutional Court is good news and closes the file on the subject," said the minister. "So much so that, with my colleague of the Environment Benoît Lutgen, I am presenting a bill to confirm the 3 V/m standard. It will be voted during this term." CHRISTOPHE SCHOUNE
